Vol. 9 No. 15

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - CIVIL SERVICE (COMPENSATION) COMMITTEE.

TOMAS MAC EOIN

asked the Minister for Finance whether the question of abolishing the Civil Service (Compensation) Committee is under consideration, and, if so, whether he will consult the representatives of the Staff Side of the Civil Service before taking any decision as to the arrangements to be made in future for dealing with applications for retirement under Article 10 of the Treaty.

As indicated in my reply of the 4th November, a decision as to what form the future arrangements for carrying on the work hitherto done by the Wylie Committee is to take must await the decision of the Supreme Court on the application entered by the Government against certain declarations of the High Court. The abolition of the Committee meanwhile is not contemplated. I think it unnecessary to consult the Staff representatives on the course of action to be taken in this matter, but should be glad to receive any representations they desire to make in regard to it.
