Vol. 10 No. 6

COMMITTEE ON FINANCE. - MONEY RESOLUTION—LOCAL AUTHORITIES (COMBINED PURCHASING) BILL, 1925.

I beg to move:—

Go bhfuil sé oiriúnach a údarú go n-íocfar amach as airgead a sholá-thróidh an tOireachtas aon chostaisí fé n-a raghfar chun éifeacht do thabhairt d'aon Acht a rithfar sa tSiosón so chun socrú do dhéanamh i gcóir ceannach earraí ag Udaráis Aitiúla ó Chonnarthóirí a ceapfar go hoifigiúil i dtreó go bhfuighidh Udaráis Aitiúla na hearraí sin ar an bpraghas is lú is féidir agus i gcóir nithe eile a bhaineas leis sin.

That it is expedient to authorise the payment out of moneys to be provided by the Oireachtas of any expenses incurred in carrying into effect any Act of the present Session to make provision for the purchase of commodities by Local Authorities from Contractors appointed officially with a view to the obtainment of such commodities by Local Authorities at the lowest possible price and for other matters connected therewith.

The Bill makes provision for the appointment of officers to assist the Minister in performing the duties placed on him by this particular Bill. It is necessary that the Oireachtas should, in the first instance, provide the money for the payment of the salaries of these officers. It is not intended, however, that there should be any ultimate charge on the Exchequer, as the cost of carrying out the scheme, by which the local authorities will benefit, will ultimately be recouped by them.

Motion put and agreed to.
