PRISONS (VISITING COMMITTEES) BILL, 1925—REPORT.

I beg to move the following amendment:—

In page 2 to add at the end of Section 2 a new sub-section as follows:—

No person other than a member of Dáil Eireann or of Seanad Eireann who is in receipt of salary paid out of the Central Fund or money provided by the Oireachtas shall be eligible for appointment as a member of any such visiting committee as aforesaid.

The amendment is introduced in pursuance of an undertaking given, I think, to Deputy Johnson when the Bill was in Committee.

I beg to move:—

In page 2 to add to the end of Section 2 a new sub-section as follows:—

Every such visiting committee as aforesaid appointed for any prison in which female prisoners may be confined shall include amongst its members at least two women.

This amendment, also, is introduced in pursuance of an undertaking given on the Committee Stage of the Bill.
