Vol. 10 No. 10

CEISTEANNA.—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - ASHBOURNE GARDA SIOCHANA—ACCOMMODATION OF.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware that the members of the Gárda Síochána stationed at Ashbourne, Co. Meath, have been transferred from the building they originally occupied to another house in the village; if he can state what is the reason for the transfer in view of the fact that the old R.I.C. barracks is undergoing repairs and will be very soon ready for occupation.

The members of the Gárda Síochána stationed at Ashbourne were transferred on the 19th ultimo to new premises of which the Board of Works have taken a lease for three years. The house previously occupied was unhealthy and most unsuitable as a station, and as alternative premises were urgently required the Board of Works availed of the opportunity to acquire the premises now occupied.

I am informed by the Board of Works that the old Royal Irish Constabulary barracks at Ashbourne is not undergoing repairs at present.
