Vol. 10 No. 13

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - OLD AGE PENSION CLAIMS IN WEXFORD.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state why an old age pension has been refused to Patrick Redmond, Barmona, Ferns, Co. Wexford.

The old age pension has been refused on three occasions in this case, on the ground of insufficient evidence to show that the claimant had attained the statutory age. His baptismal certificate was not produced and he was recorded as 24 years old at his marriage on the 6th June, 1880. An appeal on a new claim has just been received with a declaration from a neighbour stating that he has known the claimant for the past 70 years. He has not mentioned any relevant fact in support of his belief. As it is possible, however, that the claimant may have reached the statutory age, the papers are being referred to one of the Department's General Inspectors for local investigation. A decision will be given on receipt of the inspector's report.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he can state why an old age pension has been refused to Margaret Walsh, Battlestown, Ramsgrange, Co. Wexford.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he can state why an old age pension has been refused to Mary Walsh, Battlestown, Ramsgrange, Co. Wexford.

These claims were disallowed on the ground of means. It appears from the papers that the claimants' brother died some four years ago and left a farm, but it is stated that the premises have been assigned to a distant relative. The deed of assignment, however, was not produced.

If the deed of assignment is produced will the Minister undertake to look into the matter again?
