Vol. 12 No. 2

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - UNFINISHED CO. GALWAY ROAD.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture whether the road through the Smyth Estate, Glenaskeahy, Cappatagle, County Galway, which had been begun by the Congested Districts Board, had never been completed, and if, in view of the great necessity that exists for this road, he will have inquiries made as to the possibility of having work begun on it without delay.

The Commissioners have under consideration the construction of the road in question in connection with provision of turbary for persons in the district.

Mr. O'CONNELL

How long have they had this under consideration? How soon is it likely that action, other than merely considering the matter, will be taken?

Mr. HOGAN

I will have to make inquiries. I have not had an opportunity of going into it myself.

Will the Minister say whether there will be distribution of turbary in time for turf cutting this year? Has anything been done?

Mr. HOGAN

I do not think that this question arises. To talk about the distribution of turbary in the month of June is a little premature. I was under the impression that people were cutting turf now.

That is what I mean.

Mr. O'CONNELL

Turbary—ground for cutting turf on.

The distribution of the bogs is what I mean.

Mr. HOGAN

Would the Deputy repeat the question?

Has anything been done by the Minister's Department so far with regard to the distribution of bogs? Will anything be done in time for this season?

Mr. HOGAN

I could not give the Deputy the exact area of bogs that have been distributed, but during the last six months bogs have been constantly distributed.
