Vol. 12 No. 3

BUSINESS OF DAIL.

I beg to move that the Dáil sit later than 8.30 p.m. and not later than 10.30 p.m.

Will any of the Votes for the Department of Agriculture be taken to-day?

After Votes 25, 26 and 29 the Votes for the Department of Agriculture and the Land Commission will be taken.

Will the Minister consider taking Vote 61 (Advances to Agricultural Credit Societies) in order that we may know what is the position with regard to this matter?

It would suit us better if that Vote were not taken until it is reached in the normal way. It will probably be reached in the normal way on Tuesday.

I do not want to press this very strongly, but this is looked upon as a matter of urgency in the country, and we should like to know what the position is. We want to hear what progress has been made, and if the Minister has anything fresh to propose. For that reason, I thought it would be better if the Minister could take it up to-day.

Mr. HOGAN

This is a matter of urgency, but urgency is a comparative matter, and I am suggesting to the Deputy, in the interest perhaps of a better result, that he should wait until it is reached in the normal way on Tuesday.

Does the Minister mean to continue the debate on the Votes for the Department of Agriculture and the Land Commission until they are finished?

Mr. HOGAN

I take it that will be the normal procedure. That is to say, once they are taken up that they will be proceeded with in the ordinary way during the time allotted for Estimates until they are finished.

Are we to understand that Estimates are to be taken on Tuesday? I understood that the Finance Bill was to be taken on Tuesday.

Mr. HOGAN

Perhaps what I should have said was the next day when Estimates are taken.

As the Minister admits there is relative urgency with regard to Vote No. 61, would he consider giving priority to that over his other Votes?

Question put and agreed to.
