Vol. 12 No. 7

COMMITTEE ON FINANCE. - COLLEGE OF PHYSICIANS AND SAORSTAT FLAG.

I move the adjournment of the Dáil.

I should like to raise a small question. The reason for this adjournment is that a certain social function, at the invitation of the President of the Executive Council, is to take place this evening, when a large number of distinguished visitors from the United States are to be here, mainly, I understand, associated with the medical profession. I want to make the suggestion that an opportunity should be afforded to make it clear that the College of Physicians, having failed to associate in its public display of bunting the flag of the Irish Free State, is not representing the views of the great body of medical men in this country. I think I need say no more.

I had not observed that, and I certainly subscribe to what Deputy Johnson says, that if that be the view of that body, that that body does not represent even a considerable section of the medical men of this country.

I should have pointed out that it is quite ostentatiously flying the flag of the United States and the flag of Great Britain, but has not, perhaps because of poverty, afforded itself the pleasure of flying the flag of the Irish Free State.

The Dáil adjourned at 5.45 p.m. until 12 o'clock on Friday, June 12th.
