Vol. 12 No. 13

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - EX-SOLDIER'S PROFICIENCY PAY.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that ex-Sergeant Michael Delaney, of Brownstown Road, Curragh Camp, National Army, No. V.R. 5201, who attested on the 31st July, 1922, and who was discharged on the 5th March, 1925, was receiving grade or proficiency pay as Sergeant in charge of Technical Stores, Curragh Camp, and Command Technical Stores, Athlone, from August, 1922, until the 6th December, 1924, when his Army pay book was called in by Headquarters, Parkgate Street; that Mr. Delaney has not received proficiency pay from that date; whether proficiency pay for Sergeant in charge of Technical Stores has been increased by Orders No. 3, Defence Forces (Appointments, Promotions, Pay and Allowances) Regulations, 1925; and, if so, whether he will have inquiries made with a view to payment of arrears due to Mr. Delaney.

I am aware that the issue of additional pay to Sergeant Delaney ceased as from the 6th December, 1924. I am, however, having the case reconsidered and will communicate further with the Deputy as soon as possible.
