Vol. 12 No. 13

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - PAYMENT OF A CAHIR AWARD.

asked the Minister for Finance if an award of £94 was made on the 12th March, 1924, by Judge Sealy in favour of Mrs. Catherine Geary, of New Inn, Cahir, Co. Tipperary, in respect of compensation for losses suffered owing to looting of goods during 1921-'22; if the amount of this award has yet been paid to Mrs. Geary, and, if not, if he will state why this has not been done, and if he will take steps to have payment expedited in this case.

A report in favour of Mrs. Geary recommending payment of £94 has been received in my Department. This figure includes a sum which represents board and lodging provided for Irregulars and I am not prepared to authorise any payment so far as this part of the recommendation is concerned. Payment of £75 in respect of goods commandeered without the applicant's consent, together with £12 11s. 9d. costs and expenses will be authorised at an early date.
