Vol. 13 No. 2

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - PERMITS FOR GUNS.

asked the Minister for Justice if Mr. P.J. Anglin, of Farranaleen, Fethard, Co. Tipperary, applied for permits in order that he might obtain two guns which are his property, and which are at present held at Island Bridge Barracks; if he paid to the Gárda Síochána at Fethard the sum of fifteen shillings for the permits; if he has made application several times at the Gárda Barrack but has been unable to obtain any information in connection with his application; if the Minister is aware that this farmer has suffered considerable loss owing to the destruction of his crops by birds and rabbits, and if the granting of the permits will be expedited.

I have obtained a report in this case, and I have ascertained that the certificates applied for by Mr. P.J. Anglin, of Farranaleen, Fethard, Co. Tipperary, in respect of his guns have now been issued to him. It appears that some delay was caused by the fact that the Superintendent's stock of certificates was exhausted. A particularly large number of applications had been made to him, and when the certificates were received he dealt with them in order of date of receipt.
