CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - OLD AGE PENSION CLAIMS.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he is aware that the pension officer has refused to sanction the grant of the old age pension to Mrs. Catherine Neary, Bishophill, Ballymore-Eustace, on the ground of age, although it is stated that an old man of ninety years of age has declared that she is above the pensionable age.

An appeal on age has been received from the Pension Officer in this case. The papers are at present outstanding for verification of the statement of a witness, who is over 90 years of age, that claimant was 19 years of age when married. A decision in the case will be given as soon as possible on completion of the inquiries.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he can state why the old age pension recommended by the local Pensions Committee and provisionally approved by the Pension Officer for Mrs. Alice Cash, The Commons, Newbridge, has not been paid.

An appeal on age has been received from the Pension Officer in this case. The papers have been referred to one of the Department's Inspectors for local investigation, and he has been asked to expedite his report.
