Vol. 14 No. 1

SUPPLEMENTARY AND ADDITIONAL ESTIMATES.

I move: "That leave be given by the Dáil to introduce the following Supplementary and Additional Estimates for the service of the year ending on 31st day of March, 1926, viz.:—

2 (Oireachtas), 11 (Public Works and Buildings), 25 (Circuit Court Officers), 36 (Department of Local Government and Public Health); 42 (Primary Education), 43 (Secondary Education), 52 (Railways), 63 (Remuneration of Banks), 64 (Repayment to National Land Bank of Advances to Wolfhill Collieries), 65 (Repayments to Contigency Fund), 66 (Wireless Broadcasting).

Under the heading "Oireachtas" there is provision for an additional grant-in-aid for the inter-Parliamentary Union. Under the Public Works and Buildings Vote there is provision for certain expenditure in connection with the Barrow which it was found could not be paid out of the existing Vote. Under the Circuit Court Officers Vote there is provision for the payment of assistant Circuit Judges. The provision in the Local Government Vote is for payments under the Housing Act, 1925, which was not passed when the original estimates were framed. The others deal with smaller matters.

Leave was granted to introduce the Estimates.

Will the Minister suggest a date for the consideration of the Estimates?

We will take them to-morrow. Only some of them have been circulated.

If it is not too late, could the Minister give us the amount of the aggregate sum involved?

I could not. The only big one is that under Local Government, which runs into six figures, and there is an advance in respect of the Wolfhill Collieries of £58,000. The others are small.
