Vol. 14 No. 3

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - ACQUISITION OF ROSCOMMON HOLDING.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture whether he is aware that as a result of land agitation in the spring of 1920 an Arbitration Court held at Caltra, Co. Galway, decided that the farm owned by Mrs. Collins, in the townland of Killeroran Ballygar, Roscommon, should be divided among the uneconomic holders in the neighbourhood; whether those holders took possession of the farm in accordance with the terms of the award; whether subsequently the farm was handed back to Mrs. Collins; whether she has disposed of it to a large landholder resident in the district; whether there are a large number of uneconomic holdings in the area, and whether these congests have addressed a memorial to him praying that the farm be acquired and divided among them, and whether he will state what action has been taken, or is proposed to be taken, as a result of the receipt of this memorial.

Mr. HOGAN

Representations on behalf of a number of persons to have the lands referred to acquired and divided amongst them have been received. The Land Commission will have the lands inspected with a view to deciding as to their suitability for acquisition under the provisions of the 1923 Land Act.
