asked the Minister for Defence whether he has investigated the claim of Daniel Coleman, Royal Hotel, Charleville, in respect of the occupation of his hotel at Charleville by National Forces in 1922 and 1923, the maintenance of these forces, and the damage caused his premises during period of occupation, and if he can state if payment of this claim will be made at an early date.

Mr. Coleman's claim amounting to £70 0s. 6d. for the maintenance of troops on his premises between the 12th August and the 1st October, 1922, was discharged by payments from Army Funds of £24 9s. 6d. and £40 10s. 0d. on the 17th February, 1923, and the 12th instant respectively.

As regards his claim in respect of the occupation of and damage to his premises in 1922 and 1923 the payments mentioned include rent up to the 1st October, 1922. In respect of the remainder of this claim, I am informed that the Commissioners of Public Works forwarded to Mr. Coleman's solicitors on the 5th July, 1924, a cheque for £110 as a final settlement.

No further payments appear to be due to Mr. Coleman.
