Vol. 14 No. 3

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - PAYMENT OF OLD AGE PENSION FEES.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the cause of the delay in paying the fees due to the Clerk of the Old Age Pensions Committees in County Kilkenny since the 30th September, 1925, and if he will take steps to ensure payment of such fees in the future within at least six weeks after the termination of each quarter, as was always done heretofore.

The delay appears to be due to laxity on the part of the officials of the local Pensions Committees in neglecting to forward the claims.

It is not possible to ensure payment within six weeks after the end of each quarter unless the claims are transmitted to the Revenue Commissioners at the proper time.

In the present instance the claims were not received until nearly three months after the end of the quarter. They were paid without delay.
