DAMAGE TO PROPERTY (COMPENSATION) (AMENDMENT) BILL 1926—FIRST STAGE.

I ask leave to introduce the Damage to Property (Compensation) (Amendment) Bill, 1926. The long title is:—

Bille dar teideal Acht chun forálacha do dhéanamh chun méadú deich per cent. do dhánamh ar mhéid an chúitimh do híocadh no a híocfar fé sna hAchtanna Díobhála Coiriúla mar gheall ar dhíobháil le n-a mbaineann Cuid II den Acht um Dhíobháil do Mhaoin (Cúiteamh), 1923, agus chun a údarú go n-íocfar an méadú san tré urrúis cúig per cent. do thabhairt amach, agus chun a údarú go dtabharfar amach urrúis den tsaghas chéanna chun méadú ná raghaidh thar deich per cent. do dhéanamh ar na suimeanna do híocadh no a híocfar ina dhiaidh seo mar chúiteamh i gcásanna a thagann fé Alt 15 den Acht san, agus chun a údarú go dtabharfar amach as an bPrímh-Chiste na suimeanna is gá chun na hoblagáidí do chólíona do thóg Saorstát Eireann air féin le hAirtiogal 3 den Chó-aontú do dineadh an 3adh lá de mhí na Nodlag, 1925, idir an Rialtas Briotáineach agus Rialtas Shaorstáit Eireann.

A Bill entitled an Act to make provision for increasing by ten per cent. the amount of the compensation paid or to be paid under the Criminal Injuries Acts in respect of injuries to which Part II of the Damage to Property (Compensation) Act, 1923, applies, and to authorise the payment of such increase by the issue of five per cent. securities, and to authorise the issue of like securities for increasing by an amount not exceeding ten per cent. the sums which have been or may hereafter be paid by way of compensation in cases within Section 15 of the said Act, and to authorise the issue out of the Central Fund of the sums necessary to meet the obligations undertaken by the Irish Free State by Article 3 of the Agreement made on the 3rd day of December, 1925, between the British Government and the Government of the Irish Free State.
