Vol. 14 No. 15

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - CLAIM FOR VOLUNTEER BILLETING.

asked the Minister for Finance if he can state when the claim of Mrs. Margaret Moran, Cornelstown, Dunboyne, Co. Meath, for billeting of Irish Volunteer Officers and men pre-Truce will be settled, and if he can state the cause of the delay in having this claim paid.

The claim referred to by the Deputy was duly submitted to the Committee set up under the Indemnity Act, 1924, but has not yet been considered by them. I do not anticipate, however, that the Committee will find it possible to make a recommendation for any payment. The claim would appear to be entirely in respect of loss arising from the billeting or quartering of troops, and it is specifically provided by the Act that the Committee shall not take into consideration any loss or damage so arising.
