CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - ACQUIRED CO. MEATH ESTATES.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture if he will state (a) the number of estates acquired under the Land Act, 1923, in County Meath for the relief of congestion and division amongst uneconomic holders and landless men; (b) the names of the different estates and where situate; (c) the amount of each given over to or about to be given over to migrants, and (d) the number of uneconomic holders and landless men provided for on those estates.

Mr. HOGAN

Under the Land Act, 1923, untenanted land has been acquired by the Land Commission up to the present date in County Meath on 16 estates, the names and locations of which are as follows:—J.H. Nicholson, Barony of Kells Upper; H. W. Ogle, Barony of Kells Upper; Bernard Lynch, Barony of Kells Lower; Col. E. P. Winter, Barony of Deece Upper; John Coates, Barony of Deece Upper; E. C. Rotherham, Barony of Fore; A. M. Singleton, Barony of Slane Lower; Lilla C. C. Osborne, Barony of Duleek Upper; J. A. A. Cooper, Barony of Duleek Lower; Marchioness of Winchester, Barony of Morgallion; Lord Cloncurry, Barony of Moyfenrath Lower; W. A. Wallis, Barony of Ratoath; Miss May Browne, Barony of Lune. In addition the Commissioners have resumed three holdings on the estates of E. J. Gannon, C. Stack Murphy and Rothwell. Schemes have not yet been made for the division of all the lands acquired and accordingly it is not possible to give the information asked for at (c) and (d) of the question. I may say that of the total area acquired 3,565 acres have been divided and allotted.

Can the Minister state if the farm of Mr. W. A. Wallis at Ratoath has been divided or whether it is the farm of Mr. Wallis at Rathregan?

Mr. HOGAN

The lands in Rath regan. I understand Ratoath is the barony.

You did not state the barony.

Mr. HOGAN

Rathregan is possibly in the barony of Ratoath.
