Vol. 15 No. 1

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - KILCOCK TELEPHONE EXTENSION.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that some of the work in connection with the new telephone extension from Kilcock has been very badly done, and whether he will see that the corrections needed, especially those belonging to the poles, are carried out as speedily as possible.

I am informed that the work in connection with the telephone exchange at Kilcock was not badly done, but it appears that one pole for a subscriber's line, which was placed in wet and marshy ground, was slightly deflected by strong winds before the ground had consolidated. The pole was reset about a month ago and steps taken which will, it is hoped, make the pole more secure.

I have information from the afflicted person who has this telephone service that the poles that connected with his house were so badly put up that he had to send his men to support them, that when they were done there were more in the district that were not attended to, that men were sent down from the Department on two occasions to remedy these defects, and that there still remains some work to be done. Perhaps the Minister will kindly look up the matter.

Certainly.
