Vol. 16 No. 12

CEISTEANNA.—QUESTIONS. - BALLYSHANNON UNION ACCOUNTS.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether the sum of £1,279 13s. is due by the Irvinestown (Co. Fermanagh) Union to the former Ballyshannon Union, and, if so, what steps he proposes to take in the matter.

I have no information on the matter. If a sum of money is due as stated it is presumably recoverable in the usual way. I will make inquiries.

Might I ask what is the usual way to deal with a matter like this when it is outside the Free State?

It is a matter for the Union.

May I point out to the Minister that this county of Fermanagh has been held up as an example of very low rates? It is very easy for them to have low rates when they do not pay their just debts to the neighbouring councils. Would the Minister strike off the amount which we should pay under a similar order?

I have to inquire into the whole matter. I have no information to go on at all.
