Vol. 16 No. 17

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - BLAKE-SHERIDAN ESTATE.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will institute inquiries into the Nellie Blake-Sheridan estate, with a view to ascertaining from the British Chancellor of the Exchequer or from the British Public Trustee the amount of funds or other property at present to the credit of that estate in either Saorstát Eireann or Great Britain, and if he is in a position to give information as to what steps, if any, have been taken to trace the heirs to the legacy left by Nellie Sheridan, who was believed to have been born in County Longford.

The Deputy seems to have addressed this question to me under a misapprehension. I am not aware that it is the duty of any Department of State to undertake inquiries of the kind which would be necessary to secure the information which the Deputy seeks.
