Vol. 16 No. 17

QUESTIONS ON FRIDAY.

With regard to the point raised by Deputy Redmond, I should like to know if questions handed in to-day will be answered on Friday. There is an arrangement that questions would not be answered on Friday, but as the end of the session is, we hope, near, I should like to know from the President if he will be prepared to make a concession in the matter.

I could not answer definitely as to whether all questions put down would be answered on Friday, because all the information might not be available, but I will undertake that written replies will be sent to Deputies in the case of questions not answered on Friday, or that they will be answered when we reassemble to deal with any amendments that may come from the Seanad in relation to Bills before them.

Are we to take it that the Dáil will not meet next week?

I have not sufficient information to enable me to answer that question yet. It is possible we may not be called upon to meet next week. If not, it is very likely we will have to meet the week after.

May I take it from the statement of the President that questions will not be precluded on Friday as they have been hitherto?

I presume it is not intended to put down an abnormal number of questions which would absorb unusual time. That is the reason they were taken off on Fridays, because we wanted to save as much time as possible. That is the only reservation I make with regard to it.

Ordered: That Questions appear on the Order Paper on Friday.
