Vol. 16 No. 17

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - CLAIM FOR PERSONAL INJURY.

asked the Minister for Finance whether a claim was lodged by Miss Annie Hughes, Barraghbeg, Drumlisk, Co. Longford, for compensation in respect of personal injuries sustained by her on the 28th September, 1920, and whether same was considered by the Compensation (Personal Injuries) Committee and refused; whether he is aware that Doctors Delaney, McCann and Robinson certified that as a result of the personal injuries she received her health was completely broken down and that Doctors Laverty and Delaney certified last October that this lady, owing to the destruction of her father's home by British military, was suffering from hysteria, and whether in view of the grave condition of her health, the Minister will have her claim re-opened and again considered.

The application of the person named by the Deputy for compensation in respect of personal injuries was investigated by the Compensation (Personal Injuries) Committee. After careful consideration of the medical and other evidence presented to them the Committee recommended that no compensation should be paid. As the Committee has long since ceased to function I am unable to have the case re-opened as suggested by the Deputy.
