Vol. 16 No. 21

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - ATHLONE WORKHOUSE.

SEAN O LAIDHIN

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he has received applications from the Athlone Urban District Council, Trades Council and the Urban District Committee, requesting permission to be allowed to convert the disused workhouse, situated at Athlone, into a technical school, library, and wool store, and whether, in view of the large number of unemployed who can be employed at the reconstruction of the building mentioned, he will sanction the scheme in the interest of the town.

On the 10th instant a notice was published stating that I had ordered a local inquiry into this matter. It will open in the Courthouse, Athlone, on Thursday, the 22nd instant, at one o'clock.
