Vol. 16 No. 21

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - IMPORTED CONTINENTAL PORK.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture whether there is any guarantee that imported Continental pork (cured), i.e., bacon, hams, etc., did not suffer from foot-and-mouth disease before being cured.

There is no guarantee of the nature in question. The Department are advised, however, that the process of curing would render the flesh of a pig, killed while suffering from foot-and-mouth disease, innocuous from the point of view of infection.
