Vol. 16 No. 21

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE BENEFIT (KILDARE).

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware that Christopher Kinsella (Serial Book No. 1903) was disqualified from receiving unemployment insurance benefit for six weeks, from the 14th June, 1926, at Kildare Branch Office, on the grounds that he voluntarily left his employment; that on the 5th June, 1926, when Mr. Kinsella refused to accept a reduction in wages from £1 12s. 6d. to £1 7s. 6d. per week, his employer gave him a week's notice, and whether he will have inquiries made with a view to the immediate payment of benefit to Mr. Kinsella.

A claim to unemployment benefit made on the 14th June, 1926, was disallowed by the Insurance Officer under Section 8 (2) of the Unemployment Insurance Act, 1920, on the ground that the claimant left his employment voluntarily without just cause. After the date of this decision, which was given on the facts then before the Insurance Officer, the claimant appealed to the Court of Referees. The appeal was received on the 5th instant, and in view of the fresh facts thus made available the Insurance Officer revised his decision and instructions to pay any benefit to which the claimant was entitled on his contributions were issued to the local officer.
