Vol. 17 No. 8

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - EMIGRANTS FROM CO. CLARE.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the number of emigrants who left County Clare during the present year up to date, the number of men and the number of women, respectively, and the average age of these emigrants.

In the normal work of compilation of Statistics of Emigration, the numbers of emigrants are not extracted according to "County of last permanent residence in the Saorstát," and, accordingly, the particulars asked for in reference to emigrants from County Clare are not immediately available. A Special Return, containing the information asked for, is being prepared, and will be ready in about a week's time, when I will furnish it to the Deputy. This return will refer to the nine months. January to September, 1926, inclusive, and only to emigrants who left through the port of Cobh.
