Vol. 18 No. 3

ORDUITHE AN LAE—ORDERS OF THE DAY. - THE ADJOURNMENT.

I move the adjournment of the Dáil until Thursday next.

Will the President say how many days he expects the House will sit then?

Thursday and Friday.

Is it worth while bringing Deputies together for Thursday and Friday? I wonder if it would be possible to get an estimate of the relative cost of bringing Deputies here for one or two days? Could the House not adjourn until a date when there is a succession of several days' business to be dealt with?

The difficulty is to get on without allowing a lapse of time between the Stages of Bills. We have three or four very important and complicated Bills, but I think it would be scarcely fair to ask that the Second Reading should be taken shortly after their introduction.

Can the President give any information as to when the Shannon Development Bill will come on?

I suggest, in order to obviate expense, that the adjournment should be until next Tuesday week.

I would be quite willing if there is general agreement.

The Dáil adjourned at 6.55 p.m., until Tuesday, February 8th.
