Vol. 18 No. 4

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - COMPENSATION CLAIM—CO. LIMERICK.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state what is the present position in regard to a claim for compensation for a gun and two bicycles taken from James Kelly, Bosnetstown, Kilfinane, by Volunteers in 1919 and 1921; whether the claim is at present before the Indemnity Committee, and how soon a decision will be reached in the matter.

James Kelly, Bosnetstown, Kilfinane, lodged a claim in respect of a gun surrendered to the I.R.A. in May, 1918. Section 5 of the Indemnity Act, 1924, provides only for loss arising from interference with property between the 21st January, 1919, and the 28th June, 1922, and Mr. Kelly was advised on the 4th March, 1926, that his claim did not come within the scope of the Act. There is no record in my Department of any claim by Mr. Kelly for a gun and two bicycles taken in 1919 and 1921.
