Vol. 18 No. 8

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - MEDICAL BOTTLES—SAORSTÁT MANUFACTURES.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he can state the value of bottles, used for medical purposes, manufactured in the Saorstát in the years 1923 and 1926 respectively, and also the number of men employed in the same years in the making of these bottles.

Bottles for medical purposes were manufactured in 1923 almost entirely by one firm in the Saorstát which closed down in the next year. Figures as to the value of bottles made and of men employed in 1923 are consequently not available. The business was taken over by another firm which made medical bottles in 1925 and 1926. To segregate the figures asked for in the question from the figures relating to the general business of the second firm would involve considerable labour which I have not felt justified in asking the firm to undertake.
