Vol. 18 No. 8

MONEY RESOLUTION—TELEPHONE CAPITAL BILL.

I move:

Chun críche aon Achta a rithfar sa tSiosón so chun tuille airgid do dheona chun Scéim Thelefónach Shaorstáit Eireann do chur i bhfeabhas agus chun crícheanna eile a bhaineas leis sin go bhfuil sé oiriúnach a údarú:—

(1) go muirearófar ar an bPrímh-Chiste no ar a thora fáis suim ná raghaidh thar Chúig Céad Míle Punt;

(2) go n-íocfar amach as airgead a sholáthróidh an tOireachtas aon bhlianachtaí ionstadtha a bunuíodh chun iasacht d'fháil fé údarás an Achta san, agus

(3) más rud é nách leor an t-airgead san agus sa mhéid nách leor é go muirearófar ar an bPrímh-Chiste no ar a thora fáis méid aon bhlianachtaí ionstadtha a bunuíodh fén Acht san.

That for the purpose of any Act of the present Session to grant further money for the development of the Telephonic System of Saorstát Eireann and for other purposes connected there with it is expedient to authorise:—

(1) the charge upon the Central Fund or the growing produce thereof of a sum not exceeding Five Hundred Thousand Pounds;

(2) the payment out of moneys provided by the Oireachtas of any terminable annuities created for the purpose of borrowing under the authority of such Act, and

(3) in the event of such moneys being insufficient and in so far as they are insufficient the charge upon the Central Fund or the growing produce thereof of the amount of any terminable annuities created under such Act.

Heretofore, the period of the annuities has been usually about 15 years, and the rate of interest has been five per cent. It is believed that some of the telephone installations now being put in may have a longer life than former equipment. The period may therefore be extended to exceed 20 years and the rate of interest will depend on the rate at which borrowing can take place.

Question put and agreed to.
