Vol. 18 No. 17

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - BUTTER SAMPLES.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture if he will state the number of samples of butter taken by his inspectors since the 1st January, 1927; the number of these samples which were found to contain added fats; the number of prosecutions which were instituted and the number of convictions obtained, and if he will state if any creameries were prosecuted, and, if so, how many and in how many of these cases were convictions obtained.

In the months of January and February, 1927, 122 samples of butter were purchased on behalf of the Department under the Sale of Food and Drugs Acts. Of these, 94 were samples of creamery butter. On analysis no sample was found to contain foreign fats.

What was the result of the analysis of the remaining samples? There were, evidently, twenty-eight samples of farmers' butter.

Mr. HOGAN

I will have to get that information for the Deputy.

Will the Minister supply it to me to-morrow?

Mr. HOGAN

I will.
