Vol. 18 No. 18

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE BENEFIT (CO. CLARE).

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state why unemployment insurance benefit is withheld from Mr. John Moloney, Tromoroe, Quilty, County Clare.

John Moloney, Tromoroe, Quilty, Co. Clare, Unemployment Book No. Miltown-Malbay/158, claimed unemployment insurance benefit on the 6th December, 1926. His claim was disallowed by the Insurance Officer on the ground that he was "not unemployed" and "not unable to obtain suitable employment." Mr. Moloney appealed against the Insurance Officer's decision to the Court of Referees, who recommended that the claim be disallowed. Finally the case was considered by the Umpire, who confirmed the decision disallowing the claim. In these circumstances it is regretted that benefit is not payable on the claim in question.
