Vol. 19 No. 3

MESSAGE FROM THE SEANAD. - RAILWAYS (ROAD MOTOR SERVICES) BILL, 1927—FIRST STAGE.

I ask that leave be granted to introduce the Railways (Road Motor Services) Bill, 1927.

Leave granted.

In arranging the Second Stage I ask the Minister to give us a chance of studying the Bill.

There are eleven clauses; in fact, nine operative clauses. I suggest the Second Stage be fixed for Tuesday next.

Will this measure give the railway companies sole rights over buses?

We cannot have a discussion now. The Bill will be circulated to-night.

I think Tuesday next is a bit early for the Second Reading, in view of the attitude of other Ministers in asking for a longer time between the different Stages.

They are somewhat absurd in so demanding.

We must be having the General Election on Wednesday, the Government are so anxious to get through so many Bills.

Second Stage ordered for Tuesday, 29th March.
