Vol. 19 No. 7

QUESTION ON ADJOURNMENT. - DIVISION OF MEATH LANDS.

The President announced yesterday that he would make a statement in relation to my motion in connection with the acquisition and division of lands in the County Meath.

I have seen the Minister for Lands and Agriculture, and he is not disposed to agree to the furnishing of this return. Not that he has any objection to facilitate any Deputy, but this is a matter that would interrupt and interfere with the ordinary progress of the work of the Land Commission. If a return like that is given in the case of one constituency it could reasonably be asked to be supplied in the case of every other constituency.

I certainly must protest against that attitude——

We cannot discuss it. The Deputy wants to know whether this is an opposed motion. We now hear it is an opposed motion, and consequently we cannot take it to-day.

I want to say——

The Deputy can make a brief statement, but it must be very brief. He cannot go into the merits of the motion, which may be taken to-morrow.

Very well. I am satisfied to have it taken to-morrow.
