Vol. 19 No. 9

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - IRISH COAL CONSUMPTION.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he can state what percentage of Irish coal is now being used in public institutions.

I have no information as to the percentage of Irish coal used in institutions in An Saorstát, as all orders are forwarded direct by the institution to the collieries, but the following institutions use a percentage of Irish coal: —

South Dublin Union.

Kilkenny Mental Hospital.

Portlaoighise Mental Hospital.

Ballinasloe ,,,,

Sligo ,,,,

Kilkenny City Hospital.

,, County Home.

Abbeyleix District Hospital.

Portlaoighise ,,,,

Mountmellick County Home.

Athy ,,,,

Carlow ,,,,

Cavan County Home and Hospital.

Sligo ,,,,,,,,

Leitrim ,,,,,,,,

Manorhamilton.

My Department has entered into a contract with the Arigna Collieries for the supplying of coal to institutions at the following places at specially low rates: —

Dublin, Sligo, Athlone, Mullingar, Roscommon, Ballinasloe, Westport, Galway, Limerick, Ennis, Cavan, Longford, Castlerea, Castlebar, Carrick-on-Shannon, and Manorhamilton.

When was that list prepared? To my own knowledge it is very incomplete.

That is the information we have in the Department, anyway.
