Vol. 19 No. 11

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - ACQUISITION OF LANDS (KILDARE).

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture whether the Land Commission now propose to acquire six hundred and three acres of untenanted land held by Mr. George Mansfield, in the town land of Castlekeely, electoral division of Caragh, County Kildare, and, if so, whether he can state when the lands will be available for the relief of congest applicants in the area, a partial list of whom has been furnished.

Mr. HOGAN

The Land Commission do hot at present propose to acquire the lands referred to.

Why do they not propose to acquire this land in Castlekeely? There are a lot of congests there. I raised this matter twelve months ago, and yet nothing has been done.

Mr. HOGAN

I am not in a position to say whether or not there is congestion in the neighbourhood, but I understand this man tills considerably and gives a Jot of employment. The Land Commission have not decided in regard to this property. It is open to them to acquire the land at any time, but the present position is, they have not decided to do so, and they do not propose at the moment to go ahead with the acquisition of the property.
