Vol. 19 No. 12

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - GUN TAKEN BY VOLUNTEERS.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will say why a gun, the property of Michael Coyle, Lisenanagh, Ballinagh, County Cavan, taken up by troops of the Volunteers in February, 1921, has not been restored to him; whether he will say where the gun is at present held, and if action will at once be taken to hand over this gun to the owner.

I have no knowledge of the gun stated to have been surrendered by Mr. Coyle and I regret that at this stage it would not appear to be practicable to institute inquiries regarding it. On the 24th ultimo Mr. Coyle made an application for compensation in respect of the gun. His application has been referred to the Claims Committee established under Section 4 of the Indemnity Act, 1924.
