Vol. 19 No. 12

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - INSANITARY DUBLIN LANES.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he is aware of the large number of laneways in the City of Dublin and adjoining townships which are not under the charge of the Sanitary Authorities of the areas in which they are situated and whether as these lanes are both in a bad state of repair and in an insanitary condition, he will take the necessary steps to have them placed under the charge of their respective Sanitary Authorities.

Mr. HOGAN

I have no detailed information as to the extent of the problem of laneways not in charge of the Sanitary Authority of Dublin and townships, but inquiry into the matter will be made. Should a case for the transfer of liability for maintenance from the property owners to the general community be established, an opportunity for legislative amendment will be afforded in connection with the consideration of the recommendations of the Greater Dublin Commission.
