No official representations have been made to me in this matter but I have drawn the attention of the West Cork County Board of Public Assistance to it and asked for a report.
Is the Minister aware that two months ago I had to call the attention of the Land Commissioner to the distress in this district, that I had an inspector down who sanctioned some schemes but that now, at the expiration of two months, work has not been started?

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture whether he will have a complete inspection made of the areas from Courtmacsherry to Schull, along the Southern seaboard, where acute distress prevails, with a view to starting relief and improvement works at once on a liberal scale in the needy areas.
An inspection, so far as is considered necessary, is at present proceeding over the necessitous areas of County Cork for the purpose of furnishing reports on necessary estate works in those areas.
Is the Minister aware that works have been started in areas that are not considered by Deputies there as necessitous, whereas works which I recommended two months ago and which have been sanctioned by the inspector, in necessitous areas, have not been started so far?
Does the Deputy suggest that the degree of necessity should be measured by the degree of political necessity?
