Vol. 19 No. 19

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - LEWIN ESTATE, MAYO.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture whether he has received a memorial from the tenants on the Lewin Estate, Conagher, Irishtown, Co. Mayo, asking for an addition to their holdings; whether he is aware that in the majority of these holdings the land available for tillage does not exceed three acres; whether many of the holdings adjoin the river Clare and suffer much from the flooding of that river; whether there are several untenanted estates in the neighbourhood which could be divided, and whether his Department intends to acquire these estates with a view to enlarging the holdings on the Lewin estate.

A memorial has been received from certain tenants on the estate of Thomas F. Lewin. Co. Galway, and the matters referred to therein are under the special consideration of the Land Commission.
