Vol. 19 No. 22

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - COUNTY MEDICAL OFFICERS OF HEALTH.

asked the President what is the cause of the delay in disposing of the applications for appointments as County Medical Officers of Health in Kildare, Offaly and Carlow; whether he is aware that applications for these appointments were lodged before the 31st of March last; whether he is aware of the embarrassing position in which a protracted period of uncertainty places applicants for appointments, and whether he will take steps to impress on the Local Appointments Commission the necessity of expediting their procedure.

The delay in proceeding with these appointments which are to be dealt with by one Selection Board, has been due to the action of one of the local authorities concerned in questioning the remuneration of the post of county medical officer after the advertisement had appeared. This question has now been disposed of, and the candidates will be summoned to interview next week.
