Vol. 19 No. 22

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - ACQUISITION OF NEWBRIDGE LANDS.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture whether he will instruct the Land Commission to expedite the acquisition of the lands of Kilbelan, near Newbridge, County Kildare, containing about 273 acres, held by Mr. Patrick Bobbett, for division amongst the local congests whose names have been furnished to the Department.

Mr. HOGAN

The question of the acquisition of these lands is at present under consideration by the Commission.

I have already received this answer on three or four occasions. Would the Minister ask the Land Commission to hasten the division of these lands, or is it that there is any favouritism shown to the owner of them?

Mr. HOGAN

There is no question of favouritism. The difficulty is that the Land Commission have about 5,000 acres of land at the present moment in that county with which they are endeavouring to deal.

This man has perhaps about 5,000 acres in other counties, and it is time to try and get this land from him.
