Vol. 19 No. 24

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - DIVISION OF MAYO LANDS.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture whether he is aware that the Kyne Estate, Tubbernadara, Shrule, County Mayo, was acquired by the Congested Districts Board nearly twenty years ago; that the untenanted lands on this estate are still let in grazing, and if he will state what steps, if any, are being taken by the Land Commission to divide the lands among the holders of uneconomic holdings in the district to relieve the acute congestion which exists there.

Mr. HOGAN

The above estate, comprising 124 acres of tenanted land and 54 acres of untenanted land, was vested in the late Congested Districts Board on 27th January, 1913, and a further area of 102 acres, untenanted land, was acquired from the owner and vested in the Board on 5th February, 1920.

The untenanted land referred to was offered to the tenants in 1922, but they refused to accept the striping arrangements. If they are now prepared to accept these arrangements, steps will be taken to have the re-sale of these lands carried out.
