Vol. 19 No. 24

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - NATIONAL SOLDIER'S DISCHARGE.

asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware that James Grogan of Ballitore, County Kildare, who joined the National Army on the 18th April, 1922, was discharged therefrom as medically unfit on 28th March, 1924; whether in view of the fact that this man is in indifferent health, he will reconsider the question of awarding a pension or monetary compensation in his favour.

I am aware that Mr. Grogan was discharged as stated by the Deputy. A claim under the Army Pensions Act, 1923, was received from him. On examination by the Pensions Medical Board, it was found that he was not suffering any disability attributable to service with the forces. I regret that, in the circumstances, I have no power to grant him any compensation.
