Vol. 20 No. 7

WRITTEN ANSWER. - PAYMENT FOR ACQUIRED LANDS.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture if he can ascertain from the Land Commission why no interest in lieu of rent or interest on land bonds has been paid to Baron de Robeck for the house and lands of Whiteleas, Ballymore-Eustace, Co. Kildare, over which he holds a fee-farm grant, and which was acquired by the Land Commission for distribution early in 1926.

Mr. HOGAN

The lands referred to appear to be the untenanted lands of Broadleas Commons, Ballybrought, Alliganstown, comprising 299a. Or. 24p. which were acquired by the Land Commission under Section 24 of the Land Act, 1923, on the estate of J. R. Lynch (Record No. S. 2394).

The purchase money of these lands in 4½ per cent. Land Bonds was, on the appointed day, viz.: 22nd January, 1926, lodged in the Court of the Land Commission for allocation by the Judicial Commissioner to the parties who prove themselves entitled thereto.

These lands, together with other lands in the townland of Whiteleas, were held by J. R. Lynch from Baron de Robeck under lease. The rent payable under the lease has been apportioned and the redemption price of the portion thereof applicable to the lands acquired by the Land Commission has been fixed by the Judicial Commissioner.

The redemption price, together with interest thereon from the appointed day (22nd January, 1926) will be paid to the person or persons entitled thereto on the allocation of the funds in Court, but title has not yet been shown thereto and until this is done the amount cannot be paid.
