asked the Minister for Finance whether the Government, prior to deciding to ask the Oireachtas to pass the Currency Bill into law, fortified itself with exhaustive information as to the approximately true trade balance, its nature and tendency, furnished either by its own official advisers or by unofficial experts working upon the fullest available official data; and, if so whether it will place such information at the disposal of the Deputies before the Bill leaves the Dáil.

The Government must be presumed to have taken all relevant factors into consideration prior to introducing the Bill. If the Bill showed any lack of consideration of such factors there was ample opportunity afforded by the Deputy during its passage twice through this House to call attention to its shortcomings.
