CEISTEANNA.—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - WEST CORK IMPROVEMENT SCHEMES.

asked the Minister for Fisheries whether he is aware that a number of improvement schemes examined by Land Commission Inspectors in West Cork some months ago, and apparently approved of by them, have not yet been undertaken, and whether such schemes will be undertaken at an early date.

Improvement schemes in the West Cork area carried out during the present year involved a total expenditure of approximately £5,000. The following is a list of completed works in this area:—New road and bridge, Coom; new road and bridge, Ardmanagh; new road, Leenane; new road, Dunmanus; cutting rock, Kilbrown Road; new road, Dunowen; two boat slips, Muckruss; new road, Crooha; new road, Clashduff; new road, Coolieragh; road repair, Furkeal; new road, Derrylough; new road, Leahill; new road, Cappaleigh; new road, Keeltrasna. Works in hand and nearing completion are as follows:—New road, Behagh; new road, Granure; new road and bridge, Lyre; new road and bridge, Drimoleague; new road and bridge, Five. The following are the only works sanctioned but not yet started. It is hoped, however, to put these in hands immediately:—Townland fencing, Furkeal; new road, Derreen Upper.
