Vol. 20 No. 19

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - PENSION COMMITTEE CLERKS.

asked the Minister for Finance if it is intended to give effect to the recommendation (No. 53) of the Old Age Pension Committee of Inquiry regarding the payment of salaries in lieu of fees to Clerks of Sub-Committees, and, if so, when the new arrangement will operate.

I would refer the Deputy to the reply given to a similar question asked by Deputy Morrissey on 17th November last. This matter is still under consideration. Some time must necessarily elapse before sufficient experience has been gained of the effect which the adoption of other recommendations of the Committee has had upon the work of the clerks, and it is, therefore, not possible at present to say when a decision will be reached.
